Selecting the Right Aggregate for the Job
Structural aggregates are the foundation of any successful build. Whether you need maximum compaction or high-volume drainage, choosing the correct grade ensures your project remains stable for years to come.
Granular A (Traffic Bond): A specific blend of crushed stone and fines designed for maximum compaction. It packs into a rock-hard surface, making it the industry standard for driveway bases, parking areas, and patio foundations.
HPB (High Performance Bedding): A washed, 1/4" angular stone that is "self-compacting." It reaches 95% density just by being leveled, saving labor time while providing superior drainage beneath interlocking pavers.
3/4" & 1/2" Clear Stone: These stones are washed to remove all dust, creating natural voids for water to flow through. Use 3/4" for heavy-duty drainage behind retaining walls and weeping tiles, or the smaller 1/2" for easier raking in tighter spaces or around garden sheds.
Screenings (Stone Dust): The finest byproduct of crushed limestone. When dampened and compacted, it creates a dense, sandy surface used as the final leveling "screed" layer directly beneath patio stones or flagstones.
Recycled Concrete: An eco-friendly, cost-effective alternative to virgin stone. Crushed from reclaimed sidewalks and curbs, it performs similarly to Granular A and is ideal for heavy-duty sub-bases or farm lanes.

River Rock (1" to 8"): Available in three distinct sizes (1-3", 4-6", and 6-8"), these water-worn stones are perfect for creating natural-looking dry creek beds, erosion control on slopes, or bold structural borders.
Marble Chips: A crisp, bright white stone that provides high contrast against greenery. It reflects sunlight, making it the ideal choice for brightening up shaded garden corners or modern minimalist landscapes.
Black Granite: A premium, heavy stone featuring deep charcoal tones that turn a rich black when wet. It is highly durable and stays in place well, offering a sophisticated look for high-end garden accents.
Black Slate: Known for its unique flat, layered texture, slate provides a sleek, matte finish. Because of its shape, it offers excellent surface coverage and creates a stable, walkable area that won't shift like rounder stones.
